“I was pursuing the inner path at the expense of the rest of my being and the rest of the world,” Satish Kumar
Saturday’s total lunar eclipse is being hailed as the last great big bang to close out the year.
What the media fails to mention is how you, as an individual, can use the revolutionary energy of the earth’s renewal to spark a great spiritual revolt.
Lunar Eclipse
Scientifically, eclipses occur when the Earth blocks direct sunlight from reaching the moon.
Spiritually, it sheds light on our past, brings to the surface our deepest connection to the earth and enlightens that reality.
In a sense, it’s an opportunity for humankind to wake up and tackle some deep questions.
- How do you feel about the famine in the Horn of Africa?
- Are you aware that indigenous peoples are tired of being occupied?
- Aren’t you tired of being a slave to the system?
Globally, the earth has witnessed dramatic changes with the Arab Spring, food rebellions in Africa, riots in Europe and the Occupy Wall Street movement.
However, the missing component – which will allow for the material revolutions to take effect – is that human beings must engage in a spiritual uprising.
We must become the change that we wish to see. By cultivating the Tao of existence you are able to deflate the rulers divide and conquer tactics.
In a nutshell, the earth is orchestrating a new symphony. We as individuals must attune ourselves to the earth’s rhythms so that as a global community we can move forward as a single note.
Spiritual Activism
Many years ago, while learning the art of storytelling, I focused on individuals who had cultivated a life of inner harmony in hopes of being of service to the world.
Luckily, my first interview was with former Jain monk and long-time peace and environmental activist, Satish Kumar.
At the age of 18, Satish left the monastery to campaign for land reform in India, which was known as the Great Boodan Movement. Believing that he could be a force of change in the world, Satish embarked on an 8,000-mile pilgrimage from India to America, via Moscow, London and Paris.
During which he carried no money and depended on the kindness of strangers.
The most important lesson that I learned from Satish was that we must always be like scientists in life. Experimenting with new ideas, adventures and cultures in order to test our inner workings.
Only the greedy, corporations and world leaders want to maintain a system of war, torture and fear while the people just want to be left in peace.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the interview because it was done long ago and in my own spiritual revolt – that happens every few years – I’m stripped of my possessions and forced to make new experimentations.
With that said, I would like to offer this video of Satish on the Human Condition.
Witnessing Life is always on the journey to develop character and hopefully with the information we share you’ll be able to join us.
So tell us, how do you cultivate your human condition?
